Are you happy with the way you are currently spending your time?
When I walked the Camino, I had a particular time frame in mind. More importantly, there was a daily ritual of taking care of our feet. First the baby powder, then the nylon socks, then the proper socks, then the shoes. That way, we never chafed and could go the distance without great discomfort. I also had a rough idea by when I needed to
be in Burgos.
That I would cycle the middle. And that I would keep on going after the cycle. I had a plan. What I didn’t take into account was how things would change on the route – and I was faced with the choice of not finishing to the Cathedral and staying with the group of people I had grown so close with – or forge ahead and stay with my plan. What I didn’t do, is articulate why I was there. What my values were. And what I wanted the journey to mean for me.
And now, if I look back, I’m not sure I made the right choices. A valuable activity to do, is to define what's important. Think about the following:
What are your values?
What are your key relationships?
With your personal cathedral in mind, are you doing the right things every day to move you towards that goal?
